## Speak the Language
If you want to fit in on set, you need to understand the slang.
### Essential terms
- **Call sheet** – The daily schedule (never call it “schedule”)
- **Spot** – The spot boy / production runner
- **DOP** – Director of Photography (also called “camera”)
- **First AD / Second AD / Third AD** – Assistant Director hierarchy
- **Take** – A single recorded shot
- **Print it** – When the director likes the take
- **Go for another** – They want another take
- **Pack up** – Moving to the next location
- **Hot set** – Don’t touch anything, the scene is still being shot
- **Kill the lights** – Turn off the big lights
